2005 Nebraska Energy Code (N.A.C Title 107)
NOTE: This code will no longer be effective after August 24, 2011. Please see the OCEAN page for the 2011 Nebraska Energy Code.
On July 1, 2005, the 2003 IECC became the Nebraska Energy Code. The Code applies to all new buildings, or renovations of or additions to any existing buildings. However, only those renovations that will cost more than 50 percent of the replacement cost of the building must comply with the code.
There are some exemptions from the code, namely: buildings with low energy use (less than one watt per square foot per hour), buildings that are not heated or cooled, government buildings, modular housing units, mobile homes, and historic buildings. Below is the exemption wording, taken directly from the code.
Any building which has a peak design rate of energy usage for all purposes of less than one watt, or three and four-tenths British Thermal Units per hour, per square foot of floor area.
Any building which is neither heated nor cooled.
Any building or portion thereof which is owned by the United States of America.
Any manufactured home as defined by Neb. Rev. Stat. § 71-4603.
Any modular housing unit as defined by subdivision (1) of Neb. Rev. Stat. § 71-1557.
Any building listed on the National Register of Historic Places, determined to be eligible for the National Register of Historic Places by the State Historic Preservation Officer, or designated as an individual landmark or heritage preservation site by a municipality or located within a designated landmark or heritage preservation district.
