ICC Region 8 Chapter Workshop

Introduction to the 2009 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC).  This class will include discussion on the benefits of energy codes at the national and regional levels, an overview of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) related to energy code adoption and implementation, types of construction that fall under the residential and commercial provisions, mandatory and prescriptive requirements and using the US Department of Energy’s Compliance Tools REScheck and COMcheck prescriptive guides and inspection checklists.  The workshop will be taught by Cosimina Panetti, the Training and Outreach Manager for the Building Codes Assistance Project.  Ms. Panetti is a Certified Energy Manager through the Association of Energy Engineers, a LEED AP and a graduate of the State University of New York Institute of Technology.  She has over 20 years of experience working in various aspects of energy engineering in both the private and public sectors.

Brian Sernulka of the Building Codes Assistance Project will also speak about the status of codes in the region and ARRA ramifications.
