Welcome to the Bi-Monthly Energy Code Photo Contest!

We hope that this contest showcases the amazing sometimes tough, frightening, or comical, but always important] work you do every day that improves the energy efficiency of our built environment. We hope it spurs discussion and that you, other code enforcement professionals and the public will learn something new.
Contests start every other month beginning December 1, 2013, so grab your camera or phone, start shooting, and upload!

Contest Rules:

  •  Contestant must be an Energy Code Ambassador
  •  Include your name and state where you became a certified Energy Code Ambassador
  •  Maximum 5 photos per contestant per each 2-month award period.
  •  Photos must have been taken within one (1) year before the date of entry
  •  Photos must show energy code compliance or NON-compliance.
  •  Photos need to be accompanied by a brief two sentence explanation describing the submitted photo(s).
  •  Do not include names or locations of photos depicting non-compliance (to protect the guilty and us from litigation!).

Contest Deadline:

  • The first contest begins December 1, 2013 at 9:00:00 a.m. US Eastern Time and ends January 31, 2014, 11:59:00 p.m. US Eastern Time.

How To Enter:

  • Click on “Join the Discussion” box below. (If you don’t see it here, call Seul Rhee (202) 530-4352)
  • Write your 2-10 sentence explanation describing your photo(s), your name and state.
  • Click the little picture icon below the “Start a Discussion” space and upload your photo(s).
  • Underneath the photo area it reads “Pick a Name” – type in your name and state. It may also ask you to re-enter your log in name and password if you already have an account. If you’d rather post as guest, check “I’d rather post as guest”, type in your name and state in the “Name” box and email in the “Email box”.
  • Click the grey button with an arrow to complete your entry.

Gift of Appreciation: $50 gift card to the retailer of your choice

Your Rights:
Your photos help the Building Codes Assistance Project’s (BCAP) mission to reduce the energy consumed in the construction and operations of buildings through promoting the adoption and implementation of energy efficient building codes and standards. Thank you for helping to further our mission through your photos.

You will retain all rights to any photograph you submit, including ownership if applicable. You grant BCAP a royalty-free, nonexclusive right, in perpetuity, to:

  • Use the photo(s) on the Internet in support of our mission
  • Use the photo(s) in BCAP’s communications, news stories, newsletters, reports, slide shows, displays, web pages and the like
  • Keep the files provided, and to archive the images on CD or in other electronic forms, so that your photo(s) can be used to support our mission and be properly credited.

As conditions of this permission, BCAP shall credit all photographs with the caption "© Person's Name" when the full name is available or the permission to credit the full name is granted by the photographer.
