Vermont Schedules Stakeholder Meetings for Residential Code Update
In support of Vermont Act 45 of 2009, the Department of Public Service is working to update the Vermont Residential Building Energy Standards (RBES) to comply with the 2009 IECC for residential buildings (the RBES currently incorporates the 2000 IECC). Several public meetings will be held around the state this spring to gather input from the larger building community on potential changes to incorporate into the RBES update. The first two are scheduled for March 4 in Waterbury and March 11 in Rutland.
Below is a general outline of the RBES update process:
1. Scheduled Public Meetings (these meetings will be similar in content, additional meeting(s) may be scheduled)
- March 4, 2010 – Waterbury. Osgood Building, Skylight Room at the State Complex. 9:00 am – 12:00 pm.
- March 11, 2010 –Rutland. Asa Bloomer Building, 88 Merchants Row (2nd floor conference room) at the Family Services District Office. 9:00 am – 12:00 pm.
2. Advisory Committee Meeting(s) – May/June 2010
3. Finalize Revisions to RBES Update – June 2010
4. Begin Rulemaking Process – July 2010
5. Final Adopted RBES Update Effective – January 1, 2011
