California Energy Commission Workshop to Discuss 2013 Energy Code Update Process
The California Energy Commission staff held a workshop on November 16 to discuss the plan and schedule for updating the California Building Energy Efficiency Standards (BEES) for the 2013 edition, and to present the fundamental building blocks for developing the update. The state’s current energy code, the 2008 BEES, has been effective since January 1, 2010 and is estimated to be more stringent than the 2009 IECC and ASHRAE Standard 90.1-2007). CALgreen, the nation’s first mandatory nonresidential green building code, will be effective January 1, 2011.
