Free Energy Code Design Reviews from NYSERDA
As part of its Energy Codes and Support Training Initiative, NYSERDA has hired an energy and sustainability firm to conduct free plan reviews for architects and engineers to ensure that they meet the energy efficiency requirements of the recently adopted New York Energy Conservation and Construction Code 2010 (NYSECCC-2010). NYSECCC-2010 is based on the most recent model energy codes--the 2009 IECC and ASHRAE Standard 90.1-2007. It became effective on Dec 28, 2010.
Architects and engineers are encouraged to schedule appointments. Topics covered in the free design reviews include:
- General provisions and applicability of NYSECCC-2010
- Selecting the appropriate compliance path (e.g. prescriptive vs. performance; ASHRAE 90.1 vs. NYSECCC-2010)
- Detailing requirements of the chosen compliance path and common project pitfalls
- Identifying common non-compliance areas and potential design difficulties
- Clarifying code language - incomplete or lacking in detail
- Acceptable compliance reporting documentation
This free service will run until May 2011.
