ASHRAE Committee to Pursue New Direction for Residential Standard 90.2 Development
At the June 2011 ASHRAE Annual Conference Technical Program in Montreal, significant changes were adopted for the development process of ASHRAE Standard 90.2 – a companion standard to ASHRAE Standard 90.1 that applies primarily to residential dwellings. Prior to the conference, a technical committee tasked with developing the code circulated an advisory draft proposal and received numerous public comments.
Based on these comments, the ASHRAE committee resolved to reposition Standard 90.2 as a leadership standard that builds upon energy savings improvements achieved in the IECC. Deliberations about this future direction are currently ongoing.
