Alaska AHFC Updates Residential Energy Standard for Home Financing
The Alaska Building Energy Efficiency Standard (BEES) was established by the State of Alaska to promote the construction of energy-efficient buildings. It sets standards for thermal resistance, air leakage, moisture protection, and ventilation as they relate to efficient use of energy in buildings. The Standard applies to all residential and public facility improvements or new construction if Alaska Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC) financing or other state financial assistance of any kind is to be used in its construction or the purchase of a loan.
The BEES edition published on February 9, 2010 was replaced on March 9, 2011. To comply with BEES 2011, these projects must comply with the 2009 IECC, ASHRAE Standard 62.2-2010; and Alaska Amendments to IECC 2009 and ASHRAE Standard 62.2-2010.
