Updated Indiana Residential Energy Code Moves to Administrative Review Process

The Indiana Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has approved the adoption of a proposed residential energy code in Indiana consisting of the 2009 IRC with amendments to make it equivalent to the 2009 IECC. Developed by the Residential Code Review Committee in 2010, the code will now proceed through the state’s administrative rule review process. Observers estimate the code could be effective in September or October 2011.

The state previously updated its commercial code incorporating ASHRAE Standard 90.1-2007, effective May 6, 2010.
