KC Suburb of Overland Park to Begin 2012 IECC Review
In August, the City of Overland Park, Kansas issued a public notice that it would begin the process of reviewing the 2012 I-Codes, including the 2012 IECC, for adoption. A draft ordinance is expected in early fall 2011. The local building department anticipates the process to occur over the next several months.
Overland Park is the second largest city in the state, and the largest suburb of Kansas City, Missouri. The previous update of its codes (currently based on the 2006 I-Codes) occurred almost five years ago.

Looking forward to see what
Looking forward to see what the new codes will look like. The codes are definitely due for review, because I think there exists some barriers that will deter the codes from reaching its fullest potential. However the contractors would be able to adjust to the changes once they are out.

Thanks for your comment, Alex. It indeed will be interesting to see what form the Overland Park code takes and how that affects codes adopted elsewhere in the KC metro area. Stay tuned for more updates from us on OCEAN.
