New Maryland Building Performance Standard

The new version of the Maryland Building Performance Standard went into effect this past Sunday, January 8, 2012. Local jurisdictions have six months to adopt the new codes.

The updated state building standards will make Maryland homes and offices approximately 15 percent more energy efficient than the previous standard. The adoption of the new codes shows Maryland's continuing efforts to reduce energy use, save home and business owners money and prevent the global warming pollution that results from energy generation.
