Consumer Demand for Energy Savings Drives Improved Building Codes
Consumer concerns about energy efficiency proved to be one of the major driving forces behind state-by-state improvements in building energy codes, according to a survey done by the Building Codes Assistance Project (BCAP). The survey was conducted by BCAP in cooperation with Consumers Union and the Institute for Market Transformation (IMT). The survey indicates growing consumer awareness of, and preference for, energy efficiency, and a brighter future for what seemed like a slow road to U.S. energy reduction.
