St. Paul, MN: The State Court of Appeals Rejects the City's Attempt to Adopt a Policy on Egress Windows
The Minnesota Court of Appeals rejected St. Paul's attempt to adopt a stricter policy on egress windows in Monday's filing, July 23, 2012.
The policy on egress windows, known as the "Uniform Egress Windows Policy" was adopted in April 2009 by the St. Paul Safety and Inspections Department. The policy is stricter than state law, but the state Court of Appeals decided to reject the policy because the fire code can not be enforced over the building code, since that would effectively mean that the amendment had no effect.
