The City of Austin schedules two dates to Receive Public Input on the Commercial Energy Code
The city of Austin, Texas has arranged two dates, July 24 and September 4, to receive public input on the proposed City of Austin commercial energy code which is equivalent to the 2012 IECC. Both meetings are scheduled for 2:00pm at One Texas Center, 505 Barton Springs Road, Room 500. Currently, the city operates under the 2009 International Energy Conservation Code with amendments. As mentioned previously, the city intends to adopt the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code for the bulk of its own code and to slightly scale back the number of amendments. Since the 2012 IECC now includes sections which appear to successfully address roofing performance as well as exterior lighting controls, the local provisions that currently deal with these goals no longer appear necessary. No additional amendments are proposed at this time.
