Residential The Building Energy Efficiency Standards (BEES) is a state-developed mandatory code based on the 2006 IECC with Alaska-specific amendments. Commercial A statewide commercial code has not been adopted. |

The State of Alaska does not adhere to a standardized schedule for code review, adoption, and update. The most recent update became effective April 1, 2007. |

Alaska uses a regulatory process for changes to the residential code. Proposed changes can be submitted to the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation, which reviews and acts on the proposals. Public hearings are required before changes are adopted. Legislative action would be required for statewide adoption of a commercial code. |

Residential Builders must certify compliance with the BEES requirements by completing a standardized form that must be included with the mortgage package. The builder may choose one of the following methods to show compliance: |
